Mike Breen has been an innovator in leading missional churches throughout Europe and the United States for more than 25 years. In his time at St Thomas Sheffield in the UK, he created and pioneered Missional Communities, mid-sized groups of 20-50 people on mission together. The result, less than 6 years later, was the largest church in England, and ultimately, one of the largest and now fastest growing churches in the whole of Europe. In 2006 Mike was approached by Leadership Network to lead an initiative into church planting. Through his leadership, more than 725 churches were planted in three years. Today, Mike lives in South Carolina, leading 3DM, a movement/organization that is helping hundreds of established churches and church planters move into this discipling and missional way of being the church. He is also the Senior Guardian of The Order of Mission, a collection of hundreds of missional leaders and entrepreneurs throughout the world.
Mike has been married to Sally for 30 years and they have 3 grown children. Mike's passions include contemporary design and architecture, travel, movies, cycling, golf, fine wine and food...though not necessarily in that order.
Alex Absalom
Alex Absalom has served as a church leader for almost 20 years in both the UK and the United States. Having experimented with mid-sized communities, his friendship with Mike, and subsequent role on the Senior Leadership Team of St. Thomas, he was given a deep immersion into the theology and practice of Missional Communities. Alex and his family moved to the United States a number of years ago specifically to help a local church develop Missional Communities and the associated structures for leadership development. On average he has overseen the planting of 15 MCs a year, all of which are defined by a clear mission vision and developed into an average group size of 30. At this point in time, Alex has launched and overseen the development of more Missional Communities in the United States than anyone in North America. Having previously coached many leaders and churches on MCs and transitioning churches, Alex has become increasingly sought after to coach and help leaders across the US as they develop Missional Community life.
Hannah & Alex
Hannah and Alex have been married since 1994 and have three very energetic sons, with whom they do Labrador parenting (lots of love, food and outdoor exercise). Alex loves playing sports, a passionate fan of Liverpool Football Club and a connoisseur of tea!
